Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research

The Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research (IPF) in Dresden is one of the largest polymer research facilities in Germany. As an institute of the Leibniz Association, the IPF is committed to carrying out application-oriented basic research. The IPF takes a holistic approach to polymer research, covering the synthesis, modification, characterisation, processing and testing of polymer materials. The IPF also has access to its own glass spinning system for manufacturing reinforcing fibres, which can be used to achieve new developments in materials. The issues addressed at the Institute are highly future-oriented and include developments in materials, technologies and systems that facilitate innovations, for example in medicine, transport and energy technology as well as in advanced communications technology.
